The verdict

Both show no-code in-app guides and surveys, and both bill by monthly active users. Appcues focuses on in-app experiences for web and mobile, with a dedicated mobile SDK, but does not publish prices, counts every identified user who signs in, and caps the Start plan at 10 published experiences. Userpilot adds product analytics, with funnels, paths and cohorts, plus NPS surveys and a resource center, and publishes a $299 a month Starter plan, but that plan stops at 2,000 MAUs and 3 seats, the next tier starts at $849, and billing uses your peak month.

Pick Appcues if you want a dedicated mobile SDK or already have analytics elsewhere; pick Userpilot if you want analytics and guidance in one tool with a published starting price.
