What Activepieces is good at

  • The open-source Community Edition is free and self-hosts with one command on your own infrastructure.
  • Every plan, including Free, allows unlimited flows; Free includes 1,000 credits a month and up to 5 users.
  • It supports 760+ apps and connects to MCP clients such as Claude, Copilot, and Cursor.

Where Activepieces breaks

  • On the Free plan, flows wait until the next day once the credits run out; paid plans bill overage at $0.007 per credit.
  • Its catalog of 760+ apps is far smaller than Zapier's, so niche apps may need custom code or HTTP calls.
  • Self-hosted defaults cap a flow run at 600 seconds, 1 GB of memory, and 5 concurrent jobs per worker; past that you tune and run the infrastructure yourself.

When a custom build beats Activepieces

When a flow needs to run longer than its timeout or handle heavy data, a custom service is simpler; for ordinary app glue Activepieces is usually enough.
