What Grok Bot is good at
- Each Bot works on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem and terminal, using connectors where they exist and computer use for sites with no clean API.
- You can run several named Bots in parallel, and Team Bots coordinate with each other in group chats.
- Apps for macOS, Windows and Linux plus a companion app on iOS and Android; it keeps you posted with voice memos and drafts you approve before they are sent.
- Grok Bot has its own usage pool, so work you hand to a Bot does not eat into your normal Grok or Cursor usage.
Where Grok Bot breaks
- All your Bots share one cloud computer with the same files, browser sessions and logins, so xAI says not to treat separate Bots as security boundaries; one Bot can run only one computer-use task on screen at a time.
- It signs in with Cursor: training opt-out follows your Cursor account and privacy settings, and Cursor's Legacy Privacy Mode is not supported.
- Usage resets weekly; past it, eligible accounts pay on-demand usage billed from model and token cost.
- Some websites block automation or ask for new logins, two-factor codes or CAPTCHAs, which need you to take over the computer; the product is still in beta and Enterprise access is still rolling out.
When a custom build beats Grok Bot
When a site does have an API, a small script or automation calling it directly is faster, cheaper and less fragile than a Bot clicking through the web page.
Setup
No-code. Someone comfortable with spreadsheets can set it up. No code needed.
