What Kimi (Moonshot AI) is good at

Four monthly tiers from $19 (Plus) to $199 (Ultra), plus a Premium team plan at $600 per seat per year that does not train on business data by default.
The API offers kimi-k2.6 at $0.95 per 1M input and $4.00 per 1M output tokens, and kimi-k3 with a 1M token context.
Enterprise API data is not used to train models by default, and Zero Data Retention is available to enterprise customers on request.

Where Kimi (Moonshot AI) breaks

A new API account must recharge at least $1 and starts at Tier 0: 1 concurrent request, 3 requests per minute and 1.5M tokens per day until $10 is recharged.
Membership credits are one shared pool, so one feature can use up the credits for the rest, and a deployed Kimi Claw cloud host deducts about 0.6% of credits every day.
Kimi's privacy policy lists user content among the data used to train and refine its models, with data stored on servers in Singapore.

When a custom build beats Kimi (Moonshot AI)

When one workflow uses most of the credit pool, paying per token on the API for just that job is easier to predict than a membership tier sized for the heaviest feature.
