The verdict

Both help a team decide who to reach out to, from different directions. Common Room watches website visits, community, product usage and social activity and ties those signals to specific people and accounts, with 50+ integrations including Salesforce, HubSpot and Slack; it starts at $2,500 a month billed annually with no free plan, and a review summary written by a competitor says contact details are often missing. Clay builds lead lists in a table and fills in emails, phones and company details from 150+ data partners and AI steps, has a free plan and paid plans from $167 a month, but runs on credits and actions and reviewers call it hard to learn.

Pick Common Room if you have active communities or product signups and want to spot interested buyers; pick Clay if you start from a list of target companies and need contact details on it.
